Charity workers embezzle millions in Kyzylorda

Billions of tenge granted to needy individuals and families of the Aral Sea region as part of a charity campaign were stolen over a two-year period from 2012 through 2013. According to the police, former employees of the charitable foundation pocketed a total of 26 760 000 tenge from accounts of those in dire need. The unwitting people submitted applications for financial help and fell victims to fraud of the then Bota Foundation staff.
