Chairman of Kazakh Agency for Religious Affairs met with Malaysian Ambassador
ASTANA. February 12. KAZINFORM Today Chairman of the Kazakh Agency for Religious Affairs Kairat Lama Sharif has met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of Malaysia Dato'Ahmad Rasidi Bin Hazizi, the press service of the authority reported.
Current religious situation and perspectives of further bilateral cooperation in the sphere of religion were discussed during the meeting.
Dato 'Ahmad Rasidi Hazizi informed that, in accordance with the Malaysian Constitution, Islam is the official religion.
Malaysian authorities seek to ensure the development of the country's moderate "enlightened" Islam, believing that only a moderate approach to religion can contribute to the understanding and solution of contemporary problems.
There protect Islam from those who ignore the current realities and encourages fundamentalism. The emphasis is on preventing the radicalization of Islam, including by easing and streamlining rigid norms of Islamic religious practice.
According to the Malaysian diplomat, Malaysian Prime Minister Haji Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak announced the idea of a "global movement of moderates", during his speech at the 65th UN General Assembly session in New York in 201."
The basic meaning of the idea is to promote moderation and tolerance in Islam on a global scale based on the experience of Malaysia.
Finally, the sides agreed to conduct a constructive dialogue on the issue.
