Central Asian higher education development discussed in Almaty
ALMATY. October 25. KAZINFORM Regional forum on the development of higher education in Central Asia has started at the Al Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty on Thursday.
"Central Asia is the region that embraces several former soviet republics such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. I am very pleased that the representatives of higher education institutions from the region, in particular, from Kazakhstan, participate in our meeting," said Jan Sadlak, President of IREG Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence.
"Central Asian region covers a vast area with huge natural resources. To make better use of its potential and to ensure economic and social development, the region needs to modernize its economy, which currently includes the development of higher education and scientific research," added Sadlak.
The regional forum in Kazakhstan gives an opportunity to managers of universities in Kazakhstan, CIS, Central Asia countries for a constructive exchange of views and relevant information on the involvement of universities in the world rating process, and promotes partnerships between the Central Asian universities and rating agencies.
Organizers are the Kazakh National University, Kazakh Ministry of Education and Science, IREG Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence.
