Central Asian, Chinese supreme courts sign Urumqi Statement

A delegation of the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan led by its Chairman Aslambek Mergaliyev participated in the China-Central Asia Conference of the Chairpersons of the Supreme Courts held in Urumqi, China, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The conference discussed the pressing issues of transboundary judgment and cooperation in tackling crimes, as well as the development of judicial protection of ecological resources.

The Kazakh delegation also discussed the issues of law enforcement, digitalization of justice and the fight against international crimes.

The delegation also had bilateral talks with the President and Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Cour of China, Zhang Jun for discussing the prospects for strengthening judicial cooperation.

The conference ended with signing the Urumqi Statement which consolidated the participating countries' intention to continue developing partnership in the judicial sphere.
