CEC registered N.Nazarbayev as presidential candidate
ASTANA. February 18. KAZINFORM /Askar Bimendin/ The Kazakh Central Electoral Commission adopted a regulation on registration of N.Nazarbayev as a Presidential candidate. Chairman of the Commission Kuandyk Turgankulov has made it public today at the session of the Central Electoral Commission.
"According to the electoral legislation of Kazakhstan, a presidential candidate must be supported by not less than 1% of voters. The candidature of N.Nazarbayev was supported by 717 thousand 340 voters who equally represent 16 regions of the country. This makes about 8% of citizens having voting rights. The candidate submitted all necessary documents for the registration. The Central Electoral Commission decreed the registration of N.Nazarbayev as a Presidential candidate today", K.Turgankulov said.
