ASTANA. February 1. KAZINFORM /Serik Sabekov/ The volume of cargo transit totaled 16.5 million tons in 2011, Kazakh Minister of Transport and Communications Askar Zhumagaliyev told the ministry board meeting on Wednesday.
He told about the reconstruction of the international transit corridor "Western Europe - Western China". Today, 780 kilometers of roads can be used for transportation. 439 kilometers of new rail roads were built. 10 airports operate in conformity with ICAO standards.
The capacity of sea ports reached 13.5 million tons, Zhumagaliyev said.
