Budennovsk remembered terrorist massacre of 1995

BUDENNOVSK. June 15. KAZINFORM Crowds gathered in sombre reflection in Budennovsk, southern Russia on June 14, marking the 14th anniversary of the terrorist massacre of 1995.
?The memorial services took place at the city cemetery, where those who died in the terrorist attack were buried, as well as in all churches and chapels. At 12:20 when the city was rocked by terrorists people observed a minute?s silence in memory of all those killed,? an official at the city administration told Itar-Tass on Sunday.
On June 14, 1995, militants led by a Chechen rebel warlord Shamil Basayev attacked Budennovsk and took over 1,500 people hostage. They kept them for six days without food and water demanding the Russian troops? withdrawal from Chechnya. The death toll of the attack was 129 people, including 18 police and 17 servicemen; 415 more were wounded.
