Brussels held roundtable meeting devoted to 20th jubilee of Kazakhstan's independence and Kazakh-EU relations
BRUSSELS. April 22. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ Kazakhstan Embassy in Brussels held a roundtable meeting dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the country's independence and development of the Kazakh-European relations. The meeting was attended by prominent political figures of Belgium and European Union, employees of the NATO and EU headquarters, businessmen, Kazakhstani diplomats, journalists and European experts.
According to the moderator of the meeting - Executive Director of e-Forum Association Baudouin-de-Sonis - the participants were impressed with the paces of Kazakhstan's development since 1991. "The international positions of Kazakhstan have been strengthened significantly since the last year presidency in the OSCE. The country will also raise its weight in the international arena due to its chairmanship in the SCO and the OIC. There is great necessity in geopolitical plan for Kazakhstan's leadership in the Central Asian region", Baudouin-de-Sonis said.
As the expert noted, the European Union and Kazakhstan are negotiating currently the issues concerning energy, investments, environmental protection and many other problems. "If the EU and Kazakhstan reach an agreement within the advanced partnership directions and sign an appropriate document, this will allow the European business entities invest in Kazakhstan without any investment risks", he added.
The meeting focused also on economic and political development of Kazakhstan after the OSCE chairmanship. The experts highlighted that due to wise policy of the Kazakh President, the country gave much attention to well-being of the population and stability.
