Brussels held a conference on Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship
BRUSSELS. March 5. KAZINFORM /Yerzhan Ospanov/ Kazakhstan Embassy to Belgium and the European Institute for International Relations (IERI) organized a conference entitled "Chairmanship of Kazakhstan in the OSCE".
The event was attended by representatives of the European Parliament, the EU Council, the European Commission, NATO, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, foreign embassies and missions as well as scientific experts and the students of the European Diplomatic Academy.
Kazakh Ambassador to this country, Head of the RK Mission to the EU Yerik Utembayev and Deputy Head of the Mission to the OSCE Akan Rakhmetullin familiarized the attendees with the priorities of Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship. Particular attention was paid to convocation of the OSCE Summit. Alongside the Kazakh deputies stressed importance of such top-level meeting taking into consideration the latest changes and emergence of new threats and challenges since the last Summit held in 1999.
Representatives of Greece and Lithuania which are members of the OSCE Troika, Europarliament and the NATO made reports.
Within the conference there was demonstrated a documentary devoted to chairmanship of Kazakhstan in the OSCE.
