Brest to host Kazakh Cinema Week 12-20 September

BREST.September 11. KAZINFORM The Kazakh Cinema Week will take place in Brest on 12-20 September, BelTA learnt from the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Brest.

The week will open with a drama The Sky of My Childhood shot by the Kazakhsfilm studio in 2011. The picture tells about the childhood of first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

According to BelTA,  Brest cinema goers will see seven Kazakh movies. Apart from The Sky of My Childhood, it will be Myn Bala, Good Bye, Gulsary, Zherujyk, a historical drama Kyz Zhibek, a youth drama The tale of the Pink Bunny, and the Gift to Stalin. The latter one received the Grand Prix of the first international film festival East & West. Classics and Avant-garde, opened the 13th Pusan Film Festival in Korea. Its draft copy was presented at the film festivals in Berlin and Cannes.

The Cinema Week will mark the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Belarus. The entry will be free.

The Kazakh diplomats started working in Brest in 2011. At first Kazakhstan was represented by its Honorary Consul. The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the fifth embassy in Brest, (alongside with the consulates of Russia, Poland, Ukraine and Mongolia) officially opened on 1 July 2012.
