RIO DE JANEIRO. May 26. KAZINFORM Road police in Brazil's southern state of Santa Catarina had to fine an elderly man with disabilities, who was speeding down a busy highway in his self-made motorized wheelchair, police said on Wednesday.
His actual speed is unknown, but eyewitnesses said he easily overtook cars and trucks on the BR-101 highway, connecting the north and the south of the country.
Police detained the man and fined him for "driving a vehicle of an unknown type without a relevant permission," police's press service said.
The detainee, who had both legs and one arm amputated, said he simply wanted to test his new invention, RIA Novosti reports.
