On Sunday, while 59-year-old construction worker Ademir Jorge Goncalves was drinking liquor with his friends at a service station, his relatives mistakenly identified the body of a car accident victim as that of Goncalves.

"He [the crash victim] was stained with blood and had his mouth open. The two had similar teeth. We were in doubt, so we called my aunt, his sister, who said she was sure that it was Ademir," said Rosa Maria Sampaio, Goncalves's niece.

She said that when the body was prepared for the funeral, the family again started to have doubts about the dead man's identity and even requested a fingerprint test.

"At that moment Uncle Ademir appeared and started yelling 'Did you think you could get rid of me?'" Rosa said.

It turned out that a friend had informed Goncalves about his own funeral, which began early on Monday. The man rushed to the cemetery to let his relatives know that he was alive. Luckily, the construction worker had documents to prove his identity.

Later on Monday the car crash victim's body was identified correctly and buried on Tuesday in another town,  Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.
