Blasts, gunshots occur near U.S. base in Kabul

KABUL. May 2. KAZINFORM Several huge explosions and gunshots took place near a U.S. military base in the eastern part of Kabul early Wednesday, witnesses and officials said.
Two suicide bombers died in the explosions and Afghan police are exchanging fires with some militants hiding in a building close to the U.S. base in the Pule Charki area, a security officer told Xinhua.
The attacks came hours after U.S. President Barack Obama left Kabul following a surprise visit, during which he signed the strategic partnership agreement with his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai.
