Blast at «John Cook» phosphate field in Zhambyl rgn

The first explosion on "John Cook" field marks the beginning of a major project for the development of phosphorite deposits of Karatau, the construction of mining and processing complex for the production of phosphorite concentrate and a plant yielding a wide range of fertilizers.

Phosphate deposit exploration has been carried out by a joint Kazakh-Russian enterprise "Eurohim-Tau". It is expected that beginning from 2014 the company will produce 640 thousand tons of end products per year.

"Eurohim" holding was founded in 2001, the company produces nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers as well as products of organic synthesis and iron ore.
