Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan to set up Eurasian engineering center
MOSCOW. KAZINFORM - Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan have plans to set up the Eurasian engineering center, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission following the first session of the Mechanical Engineering Coordination Council of the Customs Union.
The establishment of the Eurasian engineering center is to be discussed at one of the nearest sessions of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
Deputy Director of the Industrial Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission Sergei Yevdokimov spoke about the situation in the tool-making industry. According to him, the major issues facing the industry are small production of metal-working machinery, including equipment with digital software controls; focus on the export of component parts rather than finished products; localization of foreign maintenance centers and sales outlets, not technologies, in the Customs Union; low quality of equipment, BelTA reports.
"Therefore, the establishment of the Eurasian interstate engineering center is supported by the member states of the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space. This will allow resolving the abovementioned issues in the tool-making industry and will give an additional impetus to the industry," the Deputy Director of the Industrial Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission said.
The participants of the session discussed major development targets for the mechanical engineering industry in the Customs Union and mechanical engineering inter-agency clusters.
The Mechanical Engineering Coordination Council of the Customs Union was set up to develop proposals on modernization and innovative development in mechanical engineering.
