Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan agreed to enter Common customs area: A.Lukashenko

KAZINFORM /Yernur Akanbay/ "Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan have negotiated all issues for the first half of 2010 and agreed to enter the Common customs area", Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has said today at the restricted meeting of Heads of the EurAsEC Interstate Council member states held in Minsk.

"The supreme body of Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan discussed and approved a range of principal and strategic decisions, defining development prospects of the Customs Union. During meaningful negotiations we achieved compromise and balanced agreement, realization of which is able to put into operation the mechanisms of deep economic integration including elements of Common Economic Space. We agreed that we resolve all issues in the first half of 2010 and enter the Common customs area", A.Lukashenko said.

Besides, according to the Belarusian President, the Heads of three states agreed to meet on December 18 in Almaty to address the issues of establishment of the Common Economic Space and define period of its establishment.

"We agreed that three states will enter the Common Economic Space beginning from July 1, 2010. If these mechanisms display effectiveness and sustainability at practice, then other EurAsEC member states will strive to access to the Customs Union as well", A.Lukashenko said.

As earlier reported, restricted session of the EurAsEC Interstate Council on the highest level takes place in Minsk at the moment. Heads of the EurAsEC member states take part in it.
