Belarus offers its stake in MTS to Kazakhstan
ASTANA. November 9. KAZINFORM Belarus invites business of Kazakhstan to acquire the government's stake in SOOO MTS, Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich said at the Belarusian-Kazakh Business Forum in Astana.
"We offer the local business our share of 51% in MTS," said Mikhail Myasnikovich. He recalled that the issue had been discussed at the level of the Presidents of the two countries. According to the Prime Minister, the government and business have to revisit the issue. "MTS is a well-performing and profit-making company with more than 5 million users in Belarus," he said.
Mikhail Myasnikovich drew special attention to the prospects for cooperation in the IT industry. In order to promote joint projects in this industry, the head of government suggested holding Belarusian-Kazakhstani IT-Forum in Kazakhstan in the first quarter next year.
