For now the three countries will keep existing tariffs. The car recycling fee idea will be revised in the future to make "a final decision that will protect our markets without impeding our partners".

The Prime Minister said the idea to introduce a car recycling fee had been born out of fear of junk car imports. The Customs Union member states spent a lot of time discussing it on 15 June. "Our friends are in talks now. There are finer points to address," said Dmitry Medvedev.

In turn, Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich remarked the decision to keep existing tariffs was a complicated one. It will encourage the auto making industries of the Customs Union member states, it will enable support and civilized interaction with third countries.

Summing up results of the meeting, Mikhail Myasnikovich underlined the importance of the issues they had raised for the future of the Single Economic Space. "We are now getting close to real projects in the Single Economic Space both in the conventional economy and breakthrough technologies," he said. Innovation cooperation was discussed a lot. The principal decision to prepare a relevant intergovernmental agreement was made. "If we pursue this direction, we will enhance the intellectual potential," concluded the Prime Minister.
