Belarus-Kazakhstan consultations on disarmament and arms control held in Geneva
MINSK. April 25. KAZINFORM Belarus-Kazakhstan ministerial consultations on disarmament and arms control were held in Geneva as part of the second session of the Preparatory Committee for the 2015 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry informed.
Belarus was represented by the head of the international security and arms control at the Foreign Ministry Vladimir Gerasimovich, and Kazakhstan by Ambassador-at-large of the Foreign Ministry Barlybai Sadykov.
The parties exchanged the views on a wide range of issues of disarmament, non-proliferation and arms control, the press service noted.
Belarus and Kazakhstan gave their assessment of the situation in the field of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention and the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention, and discussed issues in the field of conventional arms control, including the prospects for the Arms Trade Treaty to come into force. The meeting also considered the issues of export control, including international regimes of export control and the prospect of creating a unified system of export control in the Customs Union.
