Belarus increases steel export to Africa

ASTANA. August 25. KAZINFORM Belarus' export of steel products to African market has increased, Yelena Borushko, the deputy chief of Trade Statistics Department of the National Statistics Committee, told a press conference on 25 August; Kazinform cites BelTA.

Belarusian companies are now actively searching for new sales market. They have achieved significant progress in promotion of steel products in the African market, said Elena Borushko.

"This year Belarusian companies started their export to the countries, which they had not previously exported to. For example, there was not any export to Gambia at all, now the export volume is $3.5 million," said Elena Borushko. In H1 Belarusian deliveries to Ghana doubled from $2.5 million to $5 million, the supplies to Ethiopia rose from $400,000 to $2.3 million. And export to Uganda totaled $4.3 million.

"The export to India is on an increase too. Due to the agreement on the export of potash fertilizers, their export doubled to $187 million in H1. In addition, the deliveries of semi-finished steel products also increased," said Elena Borushk; Kazinform refers to BelTA.
