Belarus chaired informal meeting of CSTO foreign ministers in New York

MINSK. September 28. KAZINFORM Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Martynov held a series of events on 26 September as part of the participation in the 66th session of the UN General Assembly, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry told BelTA.

According to BelTA, in particular, Belarus chaired an informal meeting of ministers of foreign affairs of the CSTO member states. Representatives of the delegations discussed their cooperation in the organization and matters concerning the adjustment of views of the CSTO member states on items on the agenda of the UN General Assembly session. Participants of the meeting approved the text of a Belarus-initiated statement of the CSTO state on international security and disarmament for the First Committee of the 66th session of the UN General Assembly.

Sergei Martynov coordinated the second annual meeting of the Group of Friends United Against Human Trafficking. The group of friends was created following Belarus' initiative in 2010. At present the group includes 21 countries that represent all the regions of the world. At the meeting opinions were shared regarding future actions of the group for the sake of fulfilling the Belarus-initiated Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons that the UN General Assembly passed in 2010. Participants of the meeting also adopted a declaration that will be distributed as an official document of the UN General Assembly.

Sergei Martynov also held bilateral meetings with Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser of Qatar, President of Sixty-Sixth General Assembly, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolai Bordiuzha, heads of the national delegations - foreign ministers of Bhutan, Laos, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Ukraine, and with a representative of the South Sudan Foreign Ministry.
