Belarus aims to sign new Russian gas delivery contract in November
SAINT PETERSBURG. October 20. KAZINFORM Belarus expects to sign a new gas contract with Russia in November, said Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich as he met with Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin on 19 October; Kazinform refers to BelTA.
The Belarusian head of government said that Belarusian-Russian long-term contracts on gas and oil delivery expire in December. "We are working hard to avoid signing these contracts not on the New Year's eve but in November at the latest," he said. Mikhail Myasnikovich suggested giving a closer look to the matters and said he was confident that matters concerning Belarus-Russia cooperation in oil industry would be successfully handled. "I think we will come up with coordinated views on the volumes and purchases of oil and gas," he said.
In turn, Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin added that Belarus and Russia cooperate in many areas such as power engineering, agriculture, mechanical engineering and so on. In particular, he stressed that experts and government officials had done a lot as far as power engineering is concerned. The presidents of the two countries will say the final word at the meeting, which is scheduled for November, said Vladimir Putin. Russia's Prime Minister said he was confident that the sides will come up with decisions that will favor further integration steps; Kazinform cites BelTA.
