Baltic Sea states' summit to open in Lithuania

VILNIUS. June 1. KAZINFORM The prime ministers of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) will gather for a summit to discuss regional economic development and energy cooperation on June 1-2; Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.

The meeting, to be held in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, will involve delegations from the twelve members of the organization - Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russia, Sweden and the European Commission.

During Tuesday's informal dinner, the meeting participants will discuss joint efforts to overcome economic problems.

On Wednesday, the premiers or their representatives will meet with Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite and take part in a forum on Baltic development.

The delegations will then sign a declaration binding themselves with the commitments to resolve environmental problems and create conditions favorable for investment; Kaziform cites RIA Novosti. See www.en.rian.ru for full version.
