Bad weather conditions prompted Karaganda region to shut down roads 42 times in the past week, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
13 sections of roads of republican subordination and eight sections of roads of regional subordination were closed 42 and 22 times, respectively.
Local emergency services rescued 183 people trapped by bad weather on roads. The rescuers found seven people who went missing on the roads of the region. Search for two more people is underway.
2,179 people trapped in snowdrifts on roads were evacuated in the past seven days.
Earlier it was reported that a mass car pile-up happened on the Karaganda-Astana highway in Karaganda region on January 2.
