Background for systemic and task-oriented interaction in security field created: SCO Sec Gen
ALMATY. February 22. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ "For 10 years of its existence the SCO has become an effective factor of ensuring stability and security, strengthening solidarity in countering common challenges, elaboration of join approaches to settlement of situation threatening peace and security in the SCO space," SCO Secretary General Muratbek Imanaliyev has said today in Almaty.
"Essential work on institutionalization of multilateral mechanisms of interaction was conducted. Common principles and a solid international legal framework were formed as well. The fact that the Shanghai Convention on Combating Terrorism singed in 2011 has become the first substantial document of the SCO is an evidence of special attention paid to the issues of countering threats and challenges. The SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure was established on its base in 2002. Totally over 40 documents on anti-terrorist issues have been adopted for 10 years," the SCO Secretary General said.
He also noted that the advisory bodies of the SCO member states conducted coordinative activity on the security issues as well.
