Azerbaijan's FM Jeyhun Bayramov thanks Kazakhstanis for prompt aid following plane crash near Aktau

Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov arrived in Astana today for an official visit, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

As part of the visit, Jeyhun Bayramov has held talks behind the closed doors and in extended format with Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu.

The Azerbaijani diplomat expressed his gratitude to the Kazakhstani people for their prompt search and rescue efforts following the tragic plane crash on October 25 last year near Aktau.

Our countries enjoy strong interethnic, historic, religious and trust-based relations, which are the foundation of our strategic partnership. Three visits of the Kazakh President to Azerbaijan and two visits of the Azerbaijani President to Kazakhstan demonstrate the high level of bilateral relations, said Jeyhun Bayramov.

The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan said, ‘the countries actively promote economic and trade cooperation’.

All agenda issues within the 2025/26 bilateral cooperation roadmap, with a focus placed to greater relations within the UN and TurkPA, were discussed… Last year, the bilateral trade turnover was estimated at 500 million US dollars, he concluded.

The Azerbaijan Airlines plane which was flying from Baku to Grozny crashed near Aktau, Mangistau region, on December 25. The plane was carrying 67 people including 5 crew members. 38 people died and 29 survived as a result of the tragedy. Among the victims were six nationals of Kazakhstan.
