Azerbaijani president to pay state visit to Uzbekistan

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, will pay a state visit to Uzbekistan on August 23-24 at the invitation of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Qazinform News Agency cites UzA.

During the visit, Tashkent will host high-level talks and the third meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council, chaired by the leaders of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

The summit agenda includes deepening and expanding the strategic partnership and allied relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

Particular attention will be given to expanding bilateral trade, strengthening cooperation among businesses and regions, effectively leveraging opportunities in the transportation and transit sector, and continuing active cultural and people-to-people interaction.

The leaders will also exchange views on current international and regional policy issues and discuss cooperation in multilateral frameworks.

Following the talks, a substantial package of documents is expected to be signed, and several economic and humanitarian projects will be launched.

It is worth mentioning that Uzbekistan is currently hosting the Forum of Regions of the two countries, along with other joint events.

As reported earlier, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are strengthening bilateral cooperation through parliamentary dialogue.
