The measure is part of the Action Plan of the State Program for Tourism Development in Azerbaijan for 2026-2030, approved by presidential decree on August 20.

The program envisions internal procedures for unilateral or reciprocal visa-free regimes for citizens of target tourism countries holding regular passports.

The interim goal of the program is to ensure visa-free entry for citizens of 28 target tourism countries, with the ultimate goal of increasing this number to 34. This measure is set for implementation between 2026 and 2030.

The plan also calls for expanding international promotion of Azerbaijan’s tourism potential through global media, digital platforms, and content production.

Additional measures include simplifying multiple-entry electronic visas for tourism purposes, expanding the list of countries eligible for e-visas, and enhancing the technical capacity of the ASAN Visa system.

Earlier, it was reported that Azerbaijan's Baku will host the XII World Qazaq Kuresi Championships among adults, scheduled for August 22-23, 2026.
