Avalanche descent occurs in mountains in Almaty
An avalanche has descended in the mountainous areas of Almaty, Kazinform cites the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan.
An avalanche of 25,500 cubic meters of snow came down in the basin of the Kishi River in Almaty on March 29. No victims and damage were reported, said the press service of the Kazakh emergency situations ministry.
Earlier it was reported that on March 27-29 an avalanche warning would remain in place in the basins of Ulken and Kishi rivers in Almaty due to thaw and unstable snowpack. Citizens were warned to avoid snow slopes to prevent avalanches from occurring.
Over the past few days, dozens of avalanches have tumbled down mountainside in Almaty city and Almaty region due to significant amount of snow, thaw and unstable snow cover.
