Atyrau company to be fined KZT 5 mln for oil spill
ATYRAU. June 10. KAZINFORM – A company having spilled 101 tones of oil in Atyrau region will have to pay fine amounting KZT 4 million 857 thousand for damage to the environment, said Maksat Ermekov, the attorney for Isatai District.
"Referring to the fact of oil spill the Environmental department has already made a concept of recovering from the company the sum equal to KZT 4 million 857 thousand for damage caused to the environment. The management will also bear administrative responsibility. They will incur punishment under Part 2 of Article 250 of the Administrative Offence Code of Kazakhstan", informed M.Ermekov.
NOTE: The incident occurred on June 7 at 11th kilometer of the "Zhanatalal - Balgimbayev" pipeline within the "ZhayikMunayGas" Oil and Gas production division included in the "EmbaMunaiGas" JSC structural department. Due to the pipeline rupture associated with the line wear 101 tons of oil were spilled to the ground and flowed over 3,200 square meters.
