At least one dead, 34 wounded in North China house blast
MOSCOW. October 7. KAZINFORM At least one man was killed and 34 more injured after a blast ripped through a six-storey residential building in north China's Hebei Province, Xinhua news agency reported.
The powerful blast on Sunday morning in Baoding City caused the building to collapse and shattered windows of buildings located in the radius of 200 meters (656 feet). Witnesses said heavy smoke was seen after the blast.
Thirty four people were rushed to hospitals after sustaining various injuries in the explosion, with two people remaining in a critical condition, the agency said citing a spokesman for the municipal authorities, RIA Novosti reports.
Police, who still work at the scene of the incident, discovered self-made detonators and suspect illegal production and storage of explosive materials in the ruined building.
