At least 87 injured in earthquake in central Japan

MOSCOW. August 11. KAZINFORM At least 87 people were injured when a powerful earthquake, measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale, struck the Shizuoka Prefecture in central Japan, Japanese media reported on Tuesday; Kazinform cites RIA Novosti.

Most of the injuries, two seriously, were caused by falling objects. No fatalities have been reported, Kyodo said.

Two nuclear reactors at the Hamaoka plant were automatically suspended after the quake struck, a Chubu Electric representative said; Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.
