At least 30 dead as strong storms hit northern India

Severe winds and heavy rains swept across Uttar Pradesh late Wednesday, leaving at least 30 people dead and dozens injured, officials confirmed, Qazinform News Agency learnt from Anadolu Agency.

Fatalities were recorded in several districts. 15 were killed, eight were injured as falling trees and power poles caused widespread damage in Bhadohi district.

Nine were killed, 16 were injured in storm-related incidents in Fatehpur, and five fatalities were reported in Budaun, one died in Sonbhadra.

Police said administrative teams are monitoring affected areas continuously, while rescue and relief operations are underway.

Heavy rains also hit New Delhi, disrupting flights at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Authorities warned of continued severe weather across northern India.
