At least 16 dead, 25 injured in Indian fireworks blaze

NEW DELHI. July 8. KAZINFORM  At least 16 people were killed and over 25 injured in a fire that broke out at a fireworks workshop near the city of Madurai in southern India's Tamil Nadu state, the Times of India reported on Wednesday,  Kazinform cites RIA Novosti.

The daily said eight people died at the scene after some fire crackers exploded late on Tuesday, setting off the fire, while others died of severe burns either on their way to or in hospitals.

Eight fire teams took more than four hours to put out the blaze, with their efforts hindered by the lack of water in the area, Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.
