Astana to launch new facilities on eve Kazakhstan's 20th anniversary

ASTANA. February 17. KAZINFORM /Gulnara Zhandagulova/ A number of new facilities will be built in Astana to mark the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence. Akim Imangali Tasmagambetov made it public on Thursday.

"On the President's instruction in this jubilee year new buildings will appear in Astana. They are a classic opera and ballet theater, a school students' palace, a museum of history, a television and radio complex, the Haileybury British International School, a cathedral mosque and a new terminal of the railway station", the Mayor said.

A number of unique facilities were constructed in Astana last year. They are "The Khan Shatyr" Entertainment Center, "Shabyt" Arts Palace, the Nazarbayev University, "Alau" roofed speed skating rink, a republican cycling track, "Barys" sports complex.

"The capital is the major project of independent Kazakhstan. It should inspire Kazakhstan to celebrate the 20th anniversary of independence", I. Tasmagambetov.
