Astana to host World Weightlifting Championships in 2014
ASTANA. October 2. KAZINFORM Chairman of Sports and Physical Culture Agency of Kazakhstan Talgat Yermegiyaev and President of the International Weightlifting Federation Tamash Ayan have met to sign a memorandum on holding the World Weightlifting Championships in 2014, "Kazakhstanskaya Pravda" reported.
Opening the meeting, Talgat Yermegiyaev expressed gratitude to the guest for the support and promised to hold the tournament at the highest level. In response, Mr. Ayan said that he expects from Kazakhstan a new miracle comparable to the London Olympic triumph.
"It is my first visit to your country. I was struck by the Kazakhstan's approach to the development of sport. In London, you've raised the bar in medal table, and I am sure won't move away from the achieved level," the President of the International Weightlifting Federation stressed.
The sides decided to make "Saryarka" cycle track the venue of the competition scheduled on September 2014. Presumably, the tournament will bring together more than 130 countries: the world's leading athletes, official delegations and support groups.
