Astana to host EAPC Security Forum June 24-25

ASTANA. June 1. KAZINFORM /Aigul Tulekbayeva/ The III Security Forum of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) is to be held in Astana on June 24-25. This will be the first time such event takes place on the post-soviet space and Asian continent, Kazakh MFA?s official representative Yerzhan Ashikbayev announced it at a briefing; Kazinform reports.

The ?Security Through Partnership? Forum is an informal platform for an open and free discussion of the issues of regional and global security, he added. ?During the plenary session and topical sittings it is planned to discuss the security issues in the regions of Central Asia and Caucasus, situation in Afghanistan and the problem of energy security?, Y.Ashikbayev said. According to him, delegations from 50 countries of the EAPC and NATO, several international organizations and representatives of mass media are expected to take part in the forum. ?In parallel with the forum the NATO Parliamentary Assembly plans to organize interparliamentary Rose-Roth seminar ? this is forum of an interparliamentary dialog on topical issues of the Euro-Atlantic security?, the representative noted.
