Astana-Shchuchinsk highway to be supplied with snow removal equipment - Transport Ministry
ASTANA. November 12. KAZINFORM - The Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan has held a meeting dedicated to preparations for winter maintenance of roads, according to the official website of the Ministry. The meeting was chaired by the Minister Askar Zhumagaliev and attended by heads of "KazAvtoZhol" JSC, "Kazakhavtodor" and representatives of the Roads Committee of the Ministry.
On the agenda there have been questions concerning ensurance of safe and smooth movement of vehicles in the winter time, the notification scheme under adverse weather conditions has been examined and approved. The participants reported on progress of the preparatory work, readiness of snow removal equipment, preparation of icing materials, production facilities and heating items.
"Today the technology readiness to supply national roads in the winter period is 86%, and the workpiece material provision has been carried out by 80 %," the statement reads.
At the stage of completion are the works on repairing bases (parking garages), boilers, heating points and warehouses for storing chemicals, the stored are 42 thousand m3 of sand, 5.3 thousand tons of salt, 143 thousand liters of gasoline and 431 tons of diesel fuel.
"Minister Zhumagaliyev instructed the road operating agencies and entities to intensify their efforts in this direction. In particular, they are to ensure adequate supply of coal, petroleum products, portable icemelters, snowbreak shields. They have to fully prepare for winter the production bases and necessary heating items, to supply more snow-removal equipment for Astana-Shchuchinsk highway, and to complete the installation of stationary snow-protecting fences", says the report of the transport department.
