Astana SEZ open for investments - city Mayor I. Tasmagambetov
ASTANA. June 7. KAZINFORM /Gulnara Zhandagulova/ Half of special economic zone of Astana remains open for investments. Mayor of the city Imangali Tasmagambetov said at Astana Invest-2010 I International Investment Forum today.
According to him, today the country faces a challenge to join the global economy and to export domestic goods and services to the world market. Establishment of "Astana - New City" special economic zone of Astana has become an important step towards fulfillment of this task. The SEZ includes new administrative-industrial center and the industrial park covering the area of 6, 000 ha in total. The SEZ unites today around 256 facilities with KZT 977 bln total investment fund.
As I. Tasmagambetov noted, KZT 577 bln of these funs were private investments.
"However, 50% of the SEZ area remains free for investments. Medical, sports and educational centers were built here and the area was provided with all necessary construction infrastructure", the Mayor of the city noted.
Over 700 leading financial experts and representatives of business-elite of Russia, Europe, the U.S.A., South-Eastern Asia and Gulf States as well as heads of national and foreign companies and banks have gathered for the forum.
Besides, an exposition devoted to the Forum has been organized. 115 projects in innovation sphere are presented at it.
