Astana's population is 808 429
As of 1 November 2013, Astana's population amounted to 808 429, 367 807 (45.5%) of whom live in Almaty district of the city, 111 869 (13.8%) - in Esil district, and 328 753 (40.7%) - in Saryarka district, according to astana.kz citing the Astana Statistics Department.
The total population of Astana over the first ten months of the current year has increased by 30 231 people compared with the start of 2013. In January-October 2013, the natural growth of the population amounted to 15 426 people, migration growth - to 14 805 people.
During January-October 2013, 18 350 newborns were registered in Astana, which is 12.7% more on the same period of the last year. The natural growth of the population in the said period increased by 15.7% year-on-year.
Over the same period, 2 924 Astana residents died, which is 0.9% less than in January-October of 2012.
Between January and October 2013, 165 children under 1 year died, which is by 26 cases fewer than in the same period of the previous year. The infant mortality rate was 8.99 (in January-October 2012 - 11.73).
Major death causes are blood circulatory system diseases - 36.1%, neoplasms - 17.3%, accidents, intoxication and traumas - 15.3%.
In January-October of 2013, Astana civil registration offices registered by 6.6% more marriages and by 14.7% fewer divorces than in the same period of the last year.
