Astana's first presentation as EXPO 2017 winning city held in Paris
ASTANA. June 12. KAZINFORM - Today in Paris the Kazakh delegation was participating in the International Exhibitions Bureau (IEB) of General Assembly's153rd session.
That is the first time of representing Astana as the winning city.
Kazakh delegation consists of Rapil Zhoshybayev, the Commissioner of Kazakhstan International specialized exhibition EXPO-2017 and the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Talgat Ermegiyaev, the managing executive of the "NC"Astana EXPO-2017" JSC, who are voicing the report on the activities, which have been performed since winning and the progress of registration dossier.
The presentation includes information on establishment and functions of the State Commission and the National Company; the financing of the project; planned work with the participating countries; determination of the exhibition location; and the intended use of the objects after the Expo.
"Kazakhstan will make every effort for successful carrying out the Expo-2017. We will create all the necessary conditions for the participating countries and visitors of the big arrangement. Kazakhstan should provide a new page in the history of the international exhibition movement ", said Rapil Zhoshybayev.
The construction of the exhibition will start the next year.
"Kazakhstan is on the threshold of a new historical event of global importance. "Astana EXPO-2017" is responsible for preparation and holding of the international exhibition and we will do our best to make this event interesting and useful for both citizens of Kazakhstan and international visitors and participants", said T.Ermegiyaev.
On May 30, 2013 Nursultan Nazarbayev, the President of Kazakhstan, signed a decree on adopting Concept on the Republic of Kazakhstan transition to a "green economy." This is one of the important tools for sustainable development and Expo will become an additional motivation for transition to a "green economy."
The 153rd session of the General Assembly of BIE also involved presentations from the following candidates for holding EXPO 2020: Turkey (Izmir), Thailand (Ayutaya), Russia (Ekaterinburg), UAE (Dubai), Brazil (San Paulo) . By the end of 2013 a secret voting of the BIE members will appoint the country to hold World Expo 2020.
