Astana regional workshop to focus on countering smuggling

It is organized by the OSCE Centre in Astana, UNODC, US Embassy in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Customs Control Committee of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan. The aim of this event is to deepen understanding of and contribute to the capacity building of Kazakhstan's customs officials and their counterparts from Central Asia and Eurasian Economic Union. It is also aimed at strengthening their interaction with financial monitoring bodies on issues of preventive measures in the fight against illicit trade and smuggling making use of the available relevant best international practice. The activity follows earlier implemented awareness-rising and capacity-building exercises of the Centre in the sectors of good governance, trade facilitation and border security, and goes in line with the priorities of the mission, the OSCE Centre in Astana said.
