Astana ranks 4th on its share in country's GDP

ASTANA. January 11. KAZINFORM Over the past 13 years the gross regional product of Astana increased more than 50 times. Astana takes the fourth place in the country in terms of its share in the GDP (8.1%).

The industrial production increased eight times from KZT 15.2 billion to KZT 111.3 billion over the period from 1997 to 2010.

The projects on construction of Talgo passenger cars plant, metal structures plant, vegetable store and logistic complex are implemented within the State Program of Forced Industrial Innovative Development. The amount of investments to the fixed capital increased 21 times from 19.3 billion tenge in 1997 to 396.6 billion tenge in 2010.

Over 26.9 thousand small and medium business entities are actively functioning in the city. The number of people employed in the real sector of the economy has essentially increased reaching 137 thousand.

High pace of construction was provided due to dynamic development of the capital, attraction of investments to the construction sector. The amount of housing that has been commissioned since 1997 increased 20 times. Thereat, about 1.5 million sq m of housing was commissioned annually over the last three years.

Large-scale construction works have been conducted in the capital city. The old part of the city was reconstructed and a new administrative center was built on the left bank of Ishim River.
