"The phenomenon of Astana lies in its rapid development dynamics. This differs our capital from the monotonous urban formations. Thus, a variety of indicators show that the pace of development of Astana is outside the canons of the economic evolution of cities," he said.

For example, according to the mayor, if compared to Astana any other city in the same time interval would have shown a maximum twofold increase, while the Kazakh capital city shows a tenfold increase.

"I will mention only a few parameters. Thus, the volume of internal regional product in comparison with 1998 increased by 32 times. The volume of the commissioned housing increased tenfold since 1998. The number of small and medium businesses as compared with 1998 increased by 11 times," Tasmagambetov noted.
