Astana Karate team became the world champion

ASTANA. October 3. KAZINFORM - 6 gold, 1 silver and 7 bronze medals have been won by a team of the Schoolchildren’s Palace named after Makhambet Utemisov at the World championship in karate-do shotokan held in Poland recently.

The team of the Schoolchildren’s Palace was represented by pupils of Astana city: Toleu Toisuganov (13 years), who won 3 gold medals in kata, team kata and a bronze medal in kumite; Birzhan Kabdullaev (14 years), who became the owner of 3 gold medals in kata, kumite and team kata; and Ruslan Zhakupbekov (15 years), who gained the victory in kata, kumite and team kata, winning 3 gold medals.

The World championship involved sportsmen aged 6 years and older from 30 countries of the world. More than 1000 karatekas were competing for main prizes. According to the head of “Karate-do” club in the Schoolchildren’s Palace named after M.Utemisov and Astana city karate-do team Meiramgul Dukueva, competition organizers marked the high level of preparation of Kazakh sportsmen and great prospects of this sport in our country. She also marked the importance of such competitions in education of patriotic spirit amongst the youth of Kazakhstan, for you have the most exciting and sincere feelings for your Motherland when the national flag is showen and national anthem sounds.

The flag of Kazakhstan was shown 13 times at this championship. Pupils of a school-gymnasium №4 of Astana city and team from Karaganda are among the champions together with trainees of the metropolitan Schoolchildren’s Palace.
