Astana is Kazakhstan's great success - Nazarbayev
ASTANA. June 3. KAZINFORM /Serik Sabekov/ Astana holds a special place among the achievements of Kazakhstan. President Nursultan Nazarbayev has said it today while opening the session on the capital's further development.
The Head of State reminded that Astana had been recognized as one of the favorable cities in the CIS and following the competition announced by the International Assembly of Capitals and Cities it was declared the best one among 81 cities of the Commonwealth.
According to the President, gross regional product of Astana has risen 16 times. Per capita GRP increased ninefold and made USD 18, 500.
"This is twofold higher against the average indicator in Kazakhstan. This is the level of developed countries of Central and Eastern Europe", the President concluded.
