Astana interested in promotion of dialog with Riga in all spheres - K.Tokayev

Welcoming the Ambassador, the Kazakh Senate Speaker expressed confidence that his appointment to the post of a head of the Latvian diplomatic mission in our country would give new impetus to the Kazakh-Latvian cooperation development; the House's press service informs of it.

"Latvia is one of major political and economic partners of Kazakhstan in the Baltic region. Astana is interested in promotion of a dialog with Riga in all spheres and at all levels, including development and strengthening of interparliamentary ties", K.Tokayev said.

There was held an exchange of opinions on the issues of interaction within the framework of international and interparliamentary structures, including the OSCE and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. Alberts Sarkanis highly appraised Kazakhstan's activity on the post of the OSCE chair country and expressed confidence in this mission success.

At the request of the Ambassador K.Tokayev stated the principles of the Kazakh approaches and his vision of the situation in Kyrgyzstan. He expressed deep concern over escalation of tension in the region and spoke for necessity of speedy regulation of the crisis, stop of violence and bloodshed.
