Astana holds 9th session of CIS Information Council
ASTANA. June 29. KAZINFORM. /Kurmat Samarkhan/ IX sitting of the Council of Heads of the CIS State Information Agencies has been started in the Astana "Duman" Hotel today.
President of "Kazinform" National Information Agency Dauren Diayrov opened the sitting. He informed his colleagues of the changes in the system of the national mass media as well as the establishment of "Arna Media" National Information Holding.
Making a speech First Deputy Chairman of the Council Mikhail Kalmykov told about the progress of implementation of decisions made during the previous sitting. "The crisis complicated the work of the mass media, especially print media - our main consumers. Our common task is to find a corporate unity and prove that the information agencies are the main providers of qualitative and true information", he stressed.
Among the participants are "Kazinform" JSC, Itar-Tass (Russia), Azerbaijani State Telegraph Agency (AzerTAj), "ArmenPress" (Armenia), "Belarus Telegraph Agency" (BelTA), Kyrgyz National Information Agency "Kabar", "Khovar" Information Agency of Tajikistan.
The participants of the sitting are expected to be received by Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov and Secretary of State Kanat Saudabayev.
