Astana Declaration opens new ways of OSCE strengthening - Head of State
ASTANA. December 3. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ The Astana Declaration, which was adopted following results of the OSCE Summit yesterday, opens new ways for the Organization's strengthening; President Nursultan Nazarbayev considers.
"We highly appraise the Summit's results. The Astana Declaration confirms our obligations to this Organization and opens new ways for OSCE strengthening. It meets interests of all, including Austria, in the capital of which the OSCE Headquarters is located", N.Nazarbayev said at a press conference following results of a meeting with Federal President of Austria Heinz Fischer.
H.Fischer, in turn, noted that the Summit was not held during last 11 years, and the first top meeting in new millennium was carried out under Kazakhstan's chairmanship. "It was very difficult event, even so we were able to adopt the Declaration in consensus procedure following results of the Summit and note common directions. Therefore, there was given instruction to the Lithuanian chairmanship on further development of the OSCE", the Austrian President said.
In this connection H.Fischer congratulated Kazakhstan and President N.Nazarbayev on successful chairmanship in the OSCE. "We can say that the Summit stressed importance of the Organization", he resumed.
