Astana and Almaty can be twinned with Berlin and Stuttgart
ASTANA. January 19. KAZINFORM. /Rassul Bakhamov/ The capitals of Germany and Kazakhstan - Berlin and Astana - as well as the cities Almaty and Stuttgart can become twin cities. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Kazakhstan Rainer Schlageter made it public on Tuesday in Astana during the presentation of activities scheduled for 2010 in connection with the Year of Germany in Kazakhstan.
He noted that the thematic events of 2009 and 2010 should encourage other cities of Kazakhstan and Germany to establish partnership relations. "It will promote friendship, tolerance and rapprochement between the two countries", Mr. Schlageter stressed.
The representatives of the German Embassy also pointed out the partnership between schools. At present the student exchange programs are realized between several schools of Astana, Almaty, Ust-Kamenogorsk and German cities in Bavaria and other federal lands.
